‘2018 saw a huge increase in demand for all our Services. 1,325 families were helped and support in a variety of ways through our suite of services that are available to both adults and children alike.
A significant increase was shown across all our services but particularly our Children’s and Young Adults Services. Purple House is one of the few cancer support centre catering for the needs of children and young adults affected by cancer in the family. Whether it’s themselves who are ill or their sibling or parent.

During 2018 we were fortunate to acquire the services of a sensory and play therapist and this allowed us to provide more one to one services to children when cancer affected their family.
Our aim is to build on this as we progress into 2019′

Our Chairperson, Dr. Margaret Crean says

‘2018 was another significant year for Purple House Cancer Support. Our services are evidence-based and client led and we try where possible to respond to what our service users need.
Purple House Cancer Support Services not only serve the needs of people living with cancer in the community, they also compliment the implantation the implementation of wider Government Policy on social inclusion, health promotion and strategic cancer supports.

The services we provide are divided into five areas:
1 Psycho-Oncology Services.
2 Psycho-Social Support Services
3 Cancer Survivorship Programmes
4 Cancer & Health Awareness Education
5 Childhood Cancer & Support for Families

Investing in community based services means that less is spent on acute services and the services provided by Purple House Cancer Support, as evidenced by our business plan, offer value for
money given the outcomes for people living with cancer in the community’
