Bray Cancer Support is delighted to announce that it has acquired a new vehicle dedicated to the provision of patient transport.  Last year, Bray Cancer Support volunteers provided over 640 patient transport trips to help cancer patients attend treatment.  Today’s announcement means that we will be able to meet the demand of those who require assistance attending hospitals and clinics during their illness.

Cancer treatment can be a difficult experience in terms of dealing with a debilitating illness, the effects of surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy and the logistics of having to attend for treatment in inaccessible treatment centres on a frequent basis.  Our patient transport service is available to all clients of Bray Cancer Support but it is offered in the first instance to patients who either do not have access to their own private transport or who require assistance with mobility.

We are delighted to say that we reached our funding target for this vehicle thanks to the generosity of the public, and also thanks to the generositiy of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council’s Hug Charity Initiative, Bray Town Council, The Hospital Saturday Fund, Dublin Bus & Axa Insurance.  We are particularly grateful to those private donors who have made personal contributions and who have chosen to remain anonymous.
