In 2013 Dylan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and he relapsed in 2017.
Dylan had a rare adverse reaction to his treatment which caused issues with his central nervous system and necessitated a five week stay in the intensive care unit.
As a result of this Dylan needed to learn how to walk again. Dylan was in a wheelchair and had to regularly attend Physiotherapy appointments in both Crumlin and the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire.
One of the biggest obstacles for us was the availability of local gyms for Dylan to use. Due to his age (15) and being very self-conscious it was virtually impossible for Dylan to attend.
A gym in Purple House would have provided Dylan with a safe environment to continue with his rehabilitation. He would have been with a team he is familiar with and the people who supported him throughout his treatment.
This Christmas help us to fund the instillation of a Cancer Rehab Gym at Purple House Cancer Support Centre in Bray.
