Find Your Voice and Sing- Bray Cancer Support Centre’s therapeutic singing class.

‘Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything else’

Our therapeutic singing group meet a couple of times a month at Bray Cancer Support Centre.

At present we have about 15 participants.  Anyone who is affected by cancer can join, young and old!  Ross Scanlon (Tenor) is our musical director and Maeve Rogers plays the keyboard. The class is facilitated by Veronica O’Leary.

We begin the class with 10-15 minutes of light vocal warm up and then singing through repertoire. We have handpicked a number of songs including ‘Something inside so strong’, ‘Lean on me’ and ‘You are my sunshine’. Every week we introduce new songs and practice our regular songs.

The purpose of the group is not to be great singers, but as a form of expression and to act as a positive coping mechanism,

The release of tension through music and singing will open up people’s mind inways of support and coping techniques.  There is a great sense of camaraderie in our group and its a great feeling to be around like minded people.

Our aim is to give people something to sing about and to reduce stress levels that build up for both family and those living with cancer during their illness.

If you are interested in joining the group, please contact the centre on (01) 286 6966 to put your name down. Our next meeting is on September 5th . Hope to see you then.
