Join Team Purple House in the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon on bank holiday Monday 5th June 2017 and help us make a difference to the lives of people & families affected by Cancer.
Purple House Cancer Support is seeking women to join their 2017 Women’s Mini Marathon team.
Purple House provided a range of Cancer Support services to over 1,200 people in Ireland last year. The VHI Women’s Mini Marathon is a vital fundraising event for us and one of our biggest fundraisers. Over the past 27 years, we have had women taking part in the mini marathon every year for us, it is a real feel good event and a great chance for people to meet new friends.
Purple House would not be able to provide the level of services to people affected by Cancer without the goodwill of people taking part
in great events like the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon.
“For so many people to make the effort to run, jog or walk the 10km, it means so much to us and our clients and we are very grateful to everyone who supports Purple House. Over 1,200 people visited Purple House in 2016 for Counselling, support, information, classes and advice. We cannot provide these vital services without fundraising events like the VHI Womens Mini Marathon”
Aine has 94 caps for Ireland and started with home club Enniskerry and has since played for Stella Maris, Doncaster Rovers and Peamount United before her 2014 summer move to UCD Waves where she was made captain and went on to be named Continental Tyres Women’s National League Player of the Year for 2014-15. Aine has won FAI U14, U16, U18 and Senior Cup medals and also the Women’s National League Cup.
Aine is calling on women, especially young women to take part in the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon for Team Purple House and by doing so you will help to support families affected by Cancer in Ireland.
Aine says: ‘As a young female sports player, I understand the need for everyone to stay active, keep fit and to lead a healthy lifestyle. My goals and the goals of Purple House Cancer Support are similar in ensuring that we both encourage people to take regular exercise and eat healthy, which will help to reduce your Cancer risk.
I hope we can use this message to encourage young women to join me on Team Purple House in the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon on the 5th June’
Physical activity is vital in reducing your Cancer risk and to help, Aine will be publishing an 8 week training plan on Purple House Cancer Support’s Facebook page to ensure that everyone is physically fit to take on the 10km event on the 5th June.
